The WhiteBrook Windup Half Marathon

Date 9 Jun, 2013 Starting at: 10:00
Distance 13.1 miles
Reviewer Jane Wood (Rackham)

Details:

Well the race certainly didn't disappoint on all fronts. WhiteBrook is a little Hamlet nestled in the Wye Valley between Chepstow and Monmouth. The race started and finished at the foot of a steep incline just off the lane and few yards away from race registration. 10k is 1 lap/Half 2 laps. Definitely trail shoes even though it was very dry as the route was off road. This race has got it all. Beautiful scenery descent climbs (windup 2miles long)!! The bluebell woods was worth waiting for after the climb. If you love descending at speed then the last mile is steep rocky and fantastic. Well, I loved it and just to make sure you didn't miss anything, another lap to do. It had just under 2000ft of climbing overall. Prepare to be out 10/15 mins longer than your road half time. Big sense of achievement, legs a bit wrecked but only to be expected. I ran 2 days after and felt good. All good preparation for those Tenby mountains in July. :-))
