Please tell us about your experiences, results, personal best times achieved, worst nightmare races etc by emailing almostathletes@hotmail.com - if you don't tell us about it, we can't report it!. We can't guarantee that all information supplied will go in as the Echo have full editorial control, but we will do our best.

There was a strong turnout from Almosts Athletes at the 22nd Cleevewold Race and competitors were blessed with unseasonably warm conditions. Dave Horne led for the club throughout the tough 14.5 mile race finishing in 3rd place, just 3 minutes behind the leaders. Chris Midgley powered through the field in the latter stages of the race finishing in 18th place, around 20 seconds ahead of Nick Lewis in 19th.

Seven Almosts made the journey to Merthyr Tydfil to take part in the San Domenico 20 mile race as part of their final preparations for Spring marathons. Preparing for Milton Keynes in April, John Bailey led the Almosts home in 2:50:56.  Next back were husband and wife team Anne-Marie and Mark Willicott, who crossed the line together in 2:55:45, an improvement of four minutes on Anne-Marie's 2011 time. 

With a number of marathons just round the corner the Gloucester 20  was perfect for those in training. First home for the club was Chris Midgley, training for Edinburgh marathon he finished strongly in 2:21:22, Dale Midwinter had a good race and finished in 2:22:02. Dave McGrath led the club home in the Chedworth 10 mile. Jeanette Gullick and Paul Turner completed the Rhayader 5 mile.

The new Blackminster Half Marathon proved very popular with Almost Athletes.  Mark Willicott was first home for the club in 1:34 with Karen Galpin in hot pursuit finishing in 1:36. Personal best times were recorded for John Bailey 1:37, Dominic Lyes 1:44, Jeanette Gullick 1:50, Mark Lyes in 1:53 and Helen Fursman in 1:54.

Ultrarunner Nick Lewis took on the inaugural Thames Path 100 mile event and finished 28th overall in a time of 21 hours, 53 minutes and 40 seconds.

Almost Athletes got their early season underway with a flying start at this year’s Bourton 10k. It wasn’t only the sun that was shining but many of the Almosts did too with many achieving personal best times.
