Runners of the Month - 2019-2020

Every 4-6 weeks or so the committee nominate one or two Runners of the Month - these are people who we feel have worked hard and improved in some way, whether that is by running their first 5K, coming back from injury or completing a longer event in an exceptional time. At the end of the year, at the club AGM, members have the opportunity to choose a male and female Runner of the Year by voting for the various Runners of the Month.

Martin FosterOur first runner of the month is Martin Foster. Martin is a very consistent performer and his hard work this year has seen him PB in many of the races he has run. Most notably, he completed his first Marathon at Newport in an impressive 3:04 and only last weekend he smashed his parkrun best showing his versatility as a runner. These results are the product of a lot of hard work and Martin is a great supporter of all the weekly sessions the club puts on. We’ll even forgive him the fact that he sometimes puts his baseball cap on the wrong way...! Congratulations Martin!

Joanna Wisniewska-BarretoOur second runner of the month is Joanna Wisniewska-Barreto. Joanna is heavily involved in the club, both through supporting others and getting involved in the race series. She has been achieving great things but has been going about it in her typically understated way. She recently placed first in her age category at the Stroud Trail Marathon and only last week she ran the very hard Cheddar Gorge marathon. She’s a great inspiration to others and she is currently running every leg of the Cotswold Way as part of her training. This is a small recognition of her hard work, so congratulations Joanna!

Suzy Hills Suzy is our first ROTM for May. Suzy won one of our club members places for the 2019 Virgin London marathon and once she had her place she knuckled down to a disciplined winter training regime to ensure she shone in her second time on the streets of the capital. Come April she ran a fabulous and very measured race & crossed the line comfortably with the usual huge smile on her face. Suzy is always highly supportive of her club mates, and outside of her running she loves her bike too; she recently completed an 80-mile charity ride. Well done Suzy, keep smiling …

Neil TringNeil is our 2nd & final ROTM for May. Neil competes exceptionally well at all distances. At the recent Newport Marathon he set himself a new PB target of 3:45, which following his solid winter/spring training he went one better, finishing in 3:44 & smashing his previous best by more than 12 minutes . He recently set new PBs for the course at Berkeley & Northleach 10Ks following Newport. Neil is also a keen triathlete often competing with family Tring too. Most recently he picked up a category win at Gloucester Tri on Sunday. Neil also rocks the John McEnroe headband better than anyone we know. Keep it up Neil……
